Several years ago I began to look at the things I put in my body more seriously. I love a good 7 layer cake as much as more than anyone, but the more I researched good, whole foods, the more I saw the connection between long-term health and wellness and what I put in my body. I then began to research the cleaning chemicals in our home…and baby products…and my own skincare routine.
You guys, we put a crap ton of chemicals on our skin, but if you’re anything like me, it’s hard to decipher what’s good vs. bad when everything is piled up on the supermarket or department store shelves. Not only that, but things that say “natural” really aren’t, since that words pretty much means zilch in an unregulated culture. And wasting money on products that don’t work is like my least favorite thing. So I’ve been testing a few things, and discovered a brand of makeup that my skin and conscious are totally digging. I’ll share a bit of my 5 minute routine below, as well as a few facts about the BeautyCounter brand.
So what’s Beautycounter?
Here’s the super paraphrased low-down: they are SAFE for your body. No gross chemicals you can’t pronounce or additives you don’t need. Bonus round, they look great and work great. Combining these 2 things has proven super difficult for me. I’ve found safe products that don’t work, and unsafe products that do. So when I learned Beautycounter’s ingredient selection process, I was all excited to give it a whirl. Did you realize that 60% of what we put on our skin gets absorbed into our bodies within 26 seconds? Hold on Nelly! Our skin is the largest organ in our body, and in America there’s little regulation over what goes in and what stays out of the ingredient list. The European Union has banned close to 1,4oo harmful cosmetic ingredients to the United State’s mere 11. This is less than awesome. Wanna give up the garbage like I did? I’ll link my current makeup loves below so you can get your paws on ’em.

Ok this mascara is amazing, it is the only brand that doesn’t irritate my eyes, it glides on smoothly, and stays on well. I wear mascara everyday, so finding one that doesn’t get goopy and slide down my face, AND has no garbage in it is a total win.
Beautycounter Color Shade Eye Duo $34
Love this for a little pop when I’ve got to leave the house for work. Just a bit of shimmer and it’s perfect. I use natural shades to keep it fresh and clean looking.
Beautycounter Lip Sheer in Currant $34
Maybe my all-time fav color, and it’s great for fall! Unlike some traditional lipsticks, I don’t get a ton of peeling and drying from this one.
Beautycounter Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer $45
I love that this feels a bit lighter weight than a traditional foundation, and it boasts SPF. I just feel evened out, not like my face is suffocating from a thick layer of coverage. I also apply this with their make up brush, which has been a real game-changer! So quick and no mess!
Beautycounter Cream Blusher $37
This is so quick, a little dot dot dot and just rub it in! I also find that this type of blush covers well and stays put. So easy.
Beautycounter Style Sea Salt Spray $26
Alright, so to give my hair a little style I love to use this sea salt spray! This is a new product for me, so I played around with it several times and here’s the way I like to use it. I add a few curls and waves with a flat iron, then I spritz the spray all over and scrunch and style. It is soft, but holds all day (and even into day 2!) I love this spray, and it’s so well-priced.
I’ve gotten help on colors so I don’t make mistakes buying online. You can shop through my consultant’s site below! She’s amazing at helping with sending samples {read: the correct colors for your skin!!!} and grabbing what you need within a budget.
